Yesterday, Okafor spoke with reporters about the incident for the first time.
"It was definitely dumb on my part," he said. "Something I’m embarrassed about. Still dealing with the league and the team, but I’m not happy about it at all. We’re still going through the process of what we’re going to do. I’m ashamed with what I did and that’s not who I am," he said. "Everybody that reached out to me that’s in my circle, they know that’s not who I am. So I have a great support system, and they will continue to support me"Boston police said that they will not investigate the incident unless someone comes forward to press charges
"Victim states that two black males, one believed to be Okafor, approached his group of friends and quickly began talking to a few of his female friends in an effort to obtain their phone numbers. According to the victim, when his female companions refused their advances, a verbal altercation ensued between him and the suspect" the police statement reads.
